How do you get to know people? Before internet, it used to be that you’d get to know one another through family gatherings and talking with one another – face to face.

Another way was writing letters (do people still do this today?) It seems that now a days, most people consider getting to know each other via social media the only way. It’s a great beginning, especially to look for people you don’t know or haven’t seen in years (taking into account that they do use the internet and understand what social media is all about).

I have people that I’ve connected with that way. We’ve shared some funny posts, tidbits about our lives, and current events. But I still feel there is more to be said.

Call me old fashion if you wish, but I still and always will prefer, meeting with people in person and having real conversations.

What I mean by real conversations is to get a wholistic feel for the person I’m with. I love to see people’s faces light up when they are being heard, their eyes sparkle when they share a treasured memory of days gone by, of seeing those hands twist together when they recount trying times. Those are the ways that I love to get to know people. It’s a deeper feeling that just words.
With a family the size we have, I realize it may not be possible to get to know each and every one of you, but I will definitely try to get a just picture of who you are. By getting to know other people, we have a better understanding of who we are are individuals.
We all have a story to share, a story that is part of our history and the history of others.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
